How SoFlo Swimming Decreased Billing Issues by 95%

Learn how SoFlo Swimming leveraged Captyn to resolve their billing issues, reducing late payments by 90-95%

Overview

South Florida Aquatics (SoFlo), guided by Head Coach Christopher Anderson and Senior Lead Coach Jack Davies, has evolved into a nationally recognized swimming program that excels at balancing athletic excellence with personal growth. With over two decades of experience, SoFlo prioritizes building a community that fosters leadership, discipline, and long-term success for its swimmers. In recent years, the team has leveraged Captyn’s swim team operations software to streamline its processes and continue delivering an exceptional experience for swimmers, parents, and staff.

About the Coaches

Christopher Anderson – Head Coach

With 25 years at the helm of SoFlo, Christopher Anderson is the driving force behind the program’s success. His journey began as a swimmer for the Brunell Skaters in Massachusetts, where he was inspired by his dedicated age-group coaches. After competing at Clemson University, where he developed his passion for coaching, Christopher gained valuable experience as a graduate assistant and at NC State University, where he honed his skills under renowned mentors.

In 1999, Christopher decided to focus on developing a club program, combining a competitive edge with a mission to shape well-rounded individuals. His emphasis on work ethic, creativity, and overachievement has become the cornerstone of SoFlo’s philosophy. Christopher’s favorite aspect of coaching? Helping athletes achieve goals once thought unattainable and seeing them succeed not just in the pool but in life.

Jack Davies – Senior Lead Coach

Jack Davies’ coaching journey is rooted in his history as a SoFlo swimmer. A SoFlo alumnus, Jack swam under Christopher before moving to Texas and later attending McKendree University. An injury in college shifted his focus from competition to coaching, leading to roles at top-tier programs like CSP Tideriders. Jack returned to SoFlo in 2020, bringing with him a fresh perspective and deep respect for the program’s traditions.

Currently overseeing the 13-and-over developmental program, Jack’s passion lies in teaching swimmers life skills that extend beyond the pool. As someone who grappled with unfinished business as a swimmer, Jack is deeply committed to helping his athletes develop discipline, resilience, and a lifelong love for the sport.

About South Florida Aquatics

SoFlo, originally known as the Comets Swim Team, was founded in the late 1990s. As the team expanded and began attracting international talent, it was rebranded in 2008 to reflect its broader scope as South Florida Aquatic Club (SoFlo). Today, the club features a state-of-the-art 50-meter pool and offers a wide range of programs, from beginner swim school lessons to high-performance training for international competition.

The club’s mission is to prepare athletes for success in swimming and beyond, emphasizing a “work hard, work smart” ethos. SoFlo instills leadership and discipline, helping swimmers transition to collegiate athletics and beyond. The coaches also foster a strong alumni network, with many former athletes returning as staff or mentors, a testament to the program’s lasting impact.

The Challenge

Managing a growing swim program presents unique challenges. Before Captyn, SoFlo juggled multiple tools for billing, roster management, and meet entries, creating inefficiencies and administrative burdens. Coaches like Christopher and Jack often found themselves spending significant time on administrative tasks, detracting from their focus on athlete development.

The Solution

Captyn became the all-in-one solution that transformed SoFlo’s operations. Its intuitive interface and robust features not only simplified administrative tasks but also deepened collaboration between the team and the Captyn development staff.

The Results

  • Simplified Billing and Payments:
    • Christopher shared how Captyn resolved their billing issues, reducing late payments by 90-95%. Captyn allows parents to stay on top of their dues effortlessly, freeing staff to focus on program growth.
  • Seamless Roster Management:
    • Jack praised Captyn’s tools for consolidating roster management into one platform, eliminating the need for third-party software. "Everything I need is now in one place," he said.
  • Unmatched Customer Support:
    • Both coaches emphasized the exceptional support from the Captyn team. Jack noted, “We feel like we're part of a collaboration. Every suggestion we make is heard and often implemented.”
  • Ease of Use for New Staff:
    • Christopher highlighted how Captyn simplifies training for new staff, particularly those with little to no prior software experience. “The learning curve is very manageable,” he remarked.

Impact on SoFlo's Mission

With Captyn handling day-to-day operations, SoFlo’s coaching staff has been able to focus entirely on their athletes and community. The program continues to flourish, producing not only top-tier swimmers but also individuals who excel in academics, leadership, and life.

Looking Ahead

SoFlo and Captyn remain committed to innovation and growth. As Captyn evolves its features, SoFlo looks forward to leveraging new tools to continue delivering exceptional service to its athletes and families.
